The multitude of applications and IT solutions means that research resources are often tied to specific research tools, which makes them closed and difficult to reuse. Sometimes they are not made available to the general public at all and remain in the individual researcher's resources, even after use or completion of the research project. Processing research data generated at KUL for sharing in a simple and uniform environment creates an opportunity to:
- systematic accumulation and protection of scientific material gathered in the KUL units or its project groups;
- harmonization and combination of research material from various units and projects carried out at KUL;
- formulating new problems and creating scientific publications based on the results of research conducted at KUL in various units and projects (teamwork, interdisciplinary research);
- making research results available and introducing them into scientific circulation, which will be of decisive importance in the future for the scientific #position of KUL and building a position in scientific networks, including international ones (new projects, citations);
- linking KUL research data with other sources of research data, primarily with the reference resources with the widest reach (Linked Open Data).
